Arthritis Osteoarthritis - The general term 'arthritis' covers many different disorders that affect the joints.

There are two major categories of joint problems: 1) systemic arthritis - an inflammatory disease 2) osteoarthritis - deterioration of the cartilage

Systemic arthritis attacks the synovial membrane that covers the cartilage of the joints and secretes a lubricant called synovial fluid, which makes it possible for the joints to move smoothly without causing pain. Systemic arthritis may affect the hands, feet, shoulders, knees, elbows, or wrists.

Arthritis can affect people at any age or stage of life.

Systemic arthritis appears when the patient's immune system goes haywire, provoking a cascade of reactions that cause excessive production of a substance known as cytosine.  This substance causes inflammation of the joints, which in turn causes pain and stiffness, and the joint eventually becomes deformed.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of degenerative   joint disease. It is caused by wear and tear on the cartilage, which thins and cracks over time.  Chiropractors can readily diagnose the condition by examining the patient's X-rays.  The joints most prone to osteoarthritis are the hips, knees, and spinal column. The disintegration of the cartilage causes friction, blockage, and inflammation.  Osteoarthritis  sufferers commonly observe that the pain subsides with rest and is most intense with movement, which frequently leads them to avoid using the aching joint.

Your chiropractor is the best health-care professional to treat any problem related to the nervous system or the musculoskeletal system. As long as the disorder is not genetic or infectious, the chiropractor can intervene, since the problem is frequently a non-invasive pathology that can be reversed quite naturally and treated without medication or surgery.

Chiropractors have undertaken four to five academic years of education and clinical training in chiropractic schools, encompassing no less than 4,500 hours of instruction.  They learn to diagnose health problems through a combination of questionnaires, examinations and X-rays.
For those who prefer to avoid medication and surgery as much as possible, chiropractic care is the natural choice.
